Annual Kirkwood Hospice Trail Run – Another Success

The annual Kirkwood Hospice Trail Run for 2017 took place for the sixth time on the 3rd September and saw a record turnout, with 372 runners, an increase on 250 from the previous year, sign up to participate in the 5k and 10k trail run which took place at the Leeds Road Sports Complex, helping to increase the total amount to £50,000 since the inception of the race!
Vicki Davenport, Managing Director at The Pink Link who continued their sponsorship of the event for the sixth year running added, ‘it was a fantastic turnout with perfect running conditions. The Trail Run is a great way of bringing families and friends together to run the event or help out, keeping their loved ones’ memories alive. Thank you to all the participants and volunteers.’
The first 10km runner to cross the line was Simon Cousthey, clocking an impressive time of 34m 47s. He was followed by Ed Highland and Ian Dixon who finished in 35m 19s and 37m 07s respectively.
The first female 10km runner over the line was Ashleigh Greenwood from Stadium Runners in a time of 43m 50s. She was closely followed by Jennifer Hopkinson in 45m 51s and Sally Caton in 46m 05s.
