The Pink Link Ride Coast 2 Coast
>
On Friday 28th June through to Sunday 30th June, Sales and Commerical Director, Vicki Davenport once again picked up her tandem bike to take part in the annual Boparan Coast 2 Coast bike ride.
Riders cycled the main coast to coast route over two days from Whitehaven to Tynemouth, 140 miles in total. The route was specifically chosen to be very scenic, and as part of the Sus-Trans cycle Network had lots of interesting artwork placed strategically along the way, as well as purpose built cycle and walkways which saw riders pass some fantastic Viaducts where the views were nothing short of spectacular.
This year the bike ride raised money for The Boparan Charitable Trust, and the Orchid UK cancer charity. The Boparan Charitable Trust is a children’s charity which works first hand with some of the country’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children. Their mission is to help children and young people up to the age of 18 who live either in poverty, with a disability or terminal illness. With the money raised, they can continue to help and protect these children and grant so many of their wishes and dreams.
The Orchid UK cancer charity is the only UK registered cancer charity to focus entirely on male-specific cancers. It offers support and information to people affected by or interested in male cancer through a dedicated medical research programme, education and awareness campaigns and a range of support services.
Vicki commented: “The Coast 2 Coast ride was one of the hardest challenges we’ve faced on the tandems, however we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The views were incredible and definitely helped to spur us on. The Boparan Charitable Trust and the Orchid UK cancer charity are two very worthy causes which we were delighted to support.”
